Mark Martinelli is the Chief Audit Executive for Synchrony since 2014. Prior to Synchrony, Mark was the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Auditor for HSBC North America and held also held the position of Chief Executive Officer of hsbc.com. Early in his career, Mark worked at KPMG where he held positions supporting external audits within various industries. Mark serves on the Baruch College Fund Board of Trustee and was previously a member of the NYSSCPA Internal Audit Committee. Mark is often a featured industry speaker on banking, accounting and auditing matters and serves on the CPA Journal Review Board.

Brian Scherbaum is a Senior Vice President for Synchrony since 2014. He is responsible for Internal Audit coverage of credit risk, marketing, business strategy and model risk management as well as Internal Audit’s data analytics and digital innovation programs. Prior to Synchrony, Brian held the role of Senior Vice President at HSBC where he oversaw Internal Audit coverage of retail banking and consumer finance businesses across North and South America.

Henry Kung is the Digital Innovation leader for Synchrony Internal Audit since 2018. He is responsible for the Innovation strategy focused on leading data innovation, workforce productivity, new product development, and digital transformation for Internal Audit. Early in his career, Henry worked at Deloitte and Ernst & Young where he was responsible for delivering performance improvement solutions across various industry verticals. Henry also held the role of Senior Vice President delivering innovation programs at Citigroup Internal Audit.

John Cardona is the Assistant VP of Digital Innovation for Synchrony Internal Audit since 2018. He is responsible for executing the Innovation strategy with data automation, robotic process automation, and user interface experiences. Prior to Synchrony, John worked at GE Capital’s Credit Risk Review organization where he was responsible for developing automated processes to test credit decisions. John later joined Synchrony’s Internal Audit Data Analytics team in 2016 where he delivered automated control testing, continuous monitoring & continuous auditing.

David Lehman is a Managing Director in Protiviti’s New York office focusing on technology risk services and leads the firm’s Northeast IT audit practice. He specializes in delivering IT audit, overall SOX compliance with a focus on IT SOX, IT governance, cyber-focused auditing and IT risk management services. He has helped develop the firm’s IT Audit-related methodologies and service offerings, and regularly presents on IT audit and IT risk-related topics.

Scott Madenburg is a Market Advisor at AuditBoard, supporting organizations, both large and small, transforming their audit, SOX, and risk management through best-in-class technology solutions. Scott has over 20 years of global experience in the areas of audit, risk, and compliance. Beginning his career at Arthur Andersen, Scott transitioned to internal audit with Fox Entertainment & News Corporation and then spent several years at Rovi Corporation, where he helped lead operational and IT audits, SOX compliance, consulted on business process improvements, and participated in multiple ERP implementations and M&A activities. Prior to joining AuditBoard, Scott was the Chief Audit Executive at Mobilitie, where he built the internal audit function from the ground up to a six-person department focusing on agile audits, SOX readiness, risk management, and cyber and IT security compliance.
